Job Summary
Lead QA/Process Engineer II in a fast-paced manufacturing environment at the Houston facility, driving process improvements and cost-reduction initiatives across multiple production cells. Responsibilities include identifying and executing cost-reduction opportunities, preparing ROI analyses and implementation plans, tracking performance after implementation, ensuring new products and engineering changes are produced efficiently and cost-effectively, validating processes, leading cross-functional root-cause investigations (5-Why, Fishbone, 8D, DMAIC), developing corrective and preventive actions, creating process documentation and SOPs, monitoring equipment capability with SPC, coordinating with Maintenance for repairs or upgrades, addressing design/process/cycle issues with suppliers, supporting PFMEA updates and control plans, reducing scrap and non-conforming material, championing lean manufacturing, maintaining 5S standards, managing mid-level capital and process-improvement projects, coordinating with internal teams and vendors, and ensuring compliance with policies. Key qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field, 2–4 years in manufacturing, proficiency in data analysis and problem-solving methods (8D, Six Sigma, FMEA, SPC), CAD/SolidWorks familiarity, Six Sigma certification preferred, bilingual English/Spanish preferred, and travel up to 5–10% as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably involving metal fabrication, assembly, or commercial building products
- Experience with continuous improvement, cost-reduction projects, process validation, and troubleshooting
- Strong understanding of industrial manufacturing operations, cell manufacturing, workflow design, and production statistics
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, GD&T, and specifications
- Proven experience leading cost-savings and process-improvement projects
- Skilled in analyzing data to optimize throughput, yield, and labor efficiency
- Proficient in problem-solving techniques (8D, Six Sigma, FMEA, SPC)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering
- Proficient in CAD tools; SolidWorks experience preferred
- MiniTab or similar statistical software experience preferred
- Project management experience with capital or process initiatives preferred
- Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification preferred
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 5-10% as needed
