Job Summary
Develop and maintain comprehensive quality assurance and food safety programs across Wild Bird Food production facilities in Lubbock, TX and Fargo, ND. Lead HACCP, Preventive Controls, GMP, and regulatory compliance initiatives while managing internal audits, mock recalls, and third-party certification inspections. Provide multi-site oversight by establishing consistent standards, conducting facility inspections, and collaborating with Operations to drive continuous improvement. Lead and develop quality personnel through training, mentorship, and root cause investigations for customer complaints and non-conformances. Manage supplier qualification and incoming material quality trends while ensuring readiness for FDA, FSMA, and OSHA inspections. Requires 3+ years in food manufacturing QA, 2+ years in leadership, and 20-30% travel between locations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Agriculture, Quality Management, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of Quality Assurance experience in food manufacturing, agriculture, seed processing, or related industry
- Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience managing quality personnel
- Multi-site quality management experience
- Strong understanding of HACCP
- Strong understanding of FSMA
- Strong understanding of Preventive Controls (PCQI)
- Strong understanding of GMPs
- Strong understanding of Root Cause Analysis
- Strong understanding of Regulatory Audits
- Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems
- Experience managing customer, third-party, and regulatory audits
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality management software
- Ability to work in a manufacturing and warehouse environment
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to walk production floors, climb stairs, and conduct facility inspections
- Travel between Fargo, ND and Lubbock, TX facilities is required, approximately 20-30% of the time
- Occasional overnight travel for audits, training, and customer visits
- PCQI Certification
- HACCP Certification
- SQF Practitioner Certification
- Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) or related certification
