Job Summary
Lead the facility's Quality Assurance, Food Safety, and Quality Control programs by developing, implementing, and continuously improving the Quality Management System and Food Safety Management System. Ensure compliance with FDA regulations, FSMA, HACCP, GFSI standards, and customer requirements across receiving, production, packaging, and distribution. Provide oversight for HACCP, Preventive Controls, Environmental Monitoring, Allergen Management, and Traceability while maintaining a strong presence on the production floor. Lead customer, regulatory, and third-party audits, manage supplier quality, and drive Root Cause Analysis and Corrective and Preventive Action initiatives. Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain to reduce waste and enhance manufacturing performance. Manage the Quality organization, including staffing, training, and performance goals, while supporting new product introductions and process improvements within Bridor's high-volume bakery facility.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific discipline.
- At least 10 years of progressive Quality Assurance and Food Safety experience within food manufacturing.
- At least five years of experience leading and developing quality teams.
- Experience managing Quality Management Systems and Food Safety Management Systems within a GFSI-certified manufacturing facility.
- Strong working knowledge of FDA regulations.
- Strong working knowledge of FSMA Preventive Controls.
- Strong working knowledge of HACCP.
- Strong working knowledge of Current Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Strong working knowledge of BRCGS and/or SQF standards.
- Strong working knowledge of Environmental Monitoring.
- Strong working knowledge of Allergen Management.
- Strong working knowledge of Supplier Quality Management.
- Strong working knowledge of Sanitation verification and validation.
- Strong working knowledge of Root Cause Analysis and CAPA.
- Demonstrated experience leading customer, regulatory, and third-party certification audits.
- Experience investigating customer complaints, product nonconformances, and food safety concerns.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, changing manufacturing environment.
- Ability to communicate with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization.
- HACCP certification.
- Preventive Controls Qualified Individual certification.
- SQF Practitioner certification or comparable GFSI program experience.
- Occasional evening, overnight, weekend, or holiday support may be required for production needs, audits, customer visits, investigations, or other operational requirements.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in bakery, frozen foods, dairy, protein, beverage, or another high-volume food manufacturing environment.
- Experience working within a BRCGS-certified manufacturing facility.
- USDA-regulated manufacturing experience.
- First-Party or Internal Auditor certification.
- Statistical Process Control experience.
- Experience using ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or a comparable platform.
- Experience with electronic Quality Management Systems.
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or comparable continuous-improvement training or certification.
- Experience supporting facility expansions, new production lines, new product introductions, or significant operational growth.
- Experience with automated, high-volume production and packaging systems.
