Job Summary
QA Lead to drive end-to-end quality management for Business Support Services, defining and maintaining data quality standards and test strategies, monitoring data quality KPIs, and coordinating with Product Managers, Data Engineers, and Development Teams to raise quality standards across the data management lifecycle. Lead and develop a team (including outsourced members), manage multiple projects (onsite and offshore), plan and execute testing (including outsourced team management), maintain quality documentation, and prepare daily/weekly quality reports. Requires experience in test strategy, ISTQB Foundation Level, SQL, data pipelines, data quality management (accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness), and strong communication in English and Japanese; familiarity with e-commerce domain and BI tools is a plus. The role operates in Rakuten’s global QA environment with responsibilities that span from defect management to driving quality improvement initiatives and creating scalable QA processes.
Required Qualifications
- More than 3 years of experience in test strategy planning, test design, and manual test execution
- Knowledge equivalent to ISTQB Foundation Level
- Ability to read Japanese specifications and communicate in Japanese
- Strong understanding of quality assurance methodologies and best practices
- Experience in defect management and quality metrics tracking
- Practical experience with SQL and foundational knowledge of relational databases
- Understanding of data pipelines and testing experience
- Practical experience in data quality management (accuracy, completeness, consistency, and timeliness)
