Job Summary
Receive, accession, and evaluate samples for required information, then prepare media and specimens for analysis. Conduct non-technical routine laboratory tests under professional staff direction while maintaining accurate laboratory records and entering data into the computer system. Set up and operate laboratory equipment, clean and maintain supplies, and ensure a sanitary work environment following all safety procedures. Perform basic laboratory tasks and keep specimens properly marked while supporting quality objectives. Work in climate-controlled settings with moderate noise, lifting up to 40 lbs, and handling hazardous chemicals in controlled environments. Full-time role with salary up to $50,000 based on education and experience.
Required Qualifications
- one year of experience in laboratory work performing laboratory procedures
- an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one college-level laboratory science course for each six months of the required experience
- knowledge of the maintenance of routine records and reports
- knowledge of elementary laboratory techniques and safety precautions
- ability to perform basic laboratory tasks
- ability to keep specimens properly marked
- ability to maintain adequate written laboratory records
- ability to utilize a computer
- ability to wear impermeable clothing and footwear for the duration of the work period
- ability to meet the physical requirements of lifting/carrying up to 40lbs
Desired Qualifications
- One year experience working in a laboratory setting
- One year experience utilizing a laboratory information management system
