Job Summary
QA/Infection Control Nurse coordinates the facility's infection prevention and control program and serves on the facility Quality Assurance Performance Improvement Committee. Responsibilities include reviewing and updating infection prevention policies, providing training, monitoring compliance through observations and audits, analyzing surveillance data for unusual epidemics or outbreaks, ensuring adherence to infection prevention standards (surveillance, precautions, isolation, hygiene), coordinating supplies and devices, communicating with the QAPI Committee and public health authorities, and supporting antibiotic stewardship. Qualified candidates are graduates of an accredited program with active licensure (RN preferred; LPN considered with RN-in-program requirements), CPR certification, and typically 1-2 years of nursing experience in Long Term Care or Skilled Nursing Facilities. The role emphasizes leadership in performance improvement projects, data analysis, and multidisciplinary collaboration to improve patient safety and infection control outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited school
- Current, active licensure in the respective state (RN or LPN)
- CPR certification
- If LPN, enrollment and active progress in an accredited RN program within six months of employment start date and completion within standard duration
- Ability to coordinate infection prevention and control programs; participate in QAPI; provide training; monitor compliance; analyze data; lead performance improvement projects
