Job Summary
Senior quality engineer leading aerospace quality compliance and operational excellence. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, IPC/WHMA-A-620, J-STD-001 and customer-specific aerospace quality requirements; interpreting quality system requirements across manufacturing, inspection, supplier quality, and electronic assembly processes; serving as acting Quality Manager when needed; driving structured root-cause investigations (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone); interpreting complex engineering drawings and GD&T per ASME Y14.5; leading First Article Inspections (FAI) per AS9102 via portals like Net-Inspect; developing and maintaining inspection plans, procedures, and calibration programs; analyzing quality metrics, SPC data, and KPIs to drive continuous improvement and reduce COPQ; operating and troubleshooting automated test equipment (DIT-MCO, Cirris); programming electrical schematics and test parameters for continuity, hipot, and functional testing; leading audits (internal, customer, third-party) and promoting audit readiness; mentoring junior quality personnel; exercising authority to stop production or shipment when quality is at risk; fostering a proactive risk-based quality culture aligned with aerospace expectations and customer requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
- IPC/WHMA-A-620 and/or J-STD-001 certification preferred
- Minimum of 5 years aerospace quality engineering experience within a manufacturing environment
- Proven experience supporting aerospace customer audits, regulatory audits, and customer-facing quality initiatives
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and digital quality management systems
- Experience of working directly with aerospace customers and suppliers
- Strong working knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, IPC/WHMA-A-620, and J-STD-001 standards
