Job Summary
QA Engineer to join a remote-first team and help shape testing strategy, design and execute tests, and expand automation frameworks. Responsibilities include collaborating with Test Lead, Developers and Product Owners to develop comprehensive test strategies, prioritizing high-impact testing activities, enhancing automation and tooling, ensuring transparent QA processes within the development lifecycle, mentoring junior team members on quality standards, driving continuous improvement of QA processes, staying updated on industry trends, and effectively communicating findings to stakeholders. Required capabilities include automation with Selenium, Playwright, and Cypress in Java environments, strong SQL and database testing skills, experience with CI/CD pipelines, defect tracking (JIRA/Bugzilla), REST API testing, and agile/scrum leadership, complemented by strong collaboration and English communication skills. Additional experience in security testing (OWASP ZAP, Fortify), performance/load testing (LoadRunner, JMeter), accessibility testing, and SDLC integration is desirable. The role is offered with a flexible, remote-first setup and is based in Canada.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent practical experience considered.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in software quality assurance, demonstrating a track record of success in test strategy, planning, execution, and maintenance, including the creation of comprehensive test documentation.
- Expertise in continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) pipelines, with a strong understanding of how to optimize automated tests for efficiency and speed within CI/CD processes.
- Advanced proficiency in programming languages relevant to test automation (such as Java, Playwright, Cypress or Selenium).
- Proficient knowledge of databases and SQL, with experience executing complex data validation and interacting with databases for comprehensive backend testing.
- Proficient in defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Bugzilla), with a strong track record in bug reporting, tracking, and resolution processes.
- Proficiency in testing both browser-based applications and REST API service endpoints.
- Proven leadership in Agile and Scrum methodologies, with a solid ability to drive QA strategies within rapid development cycles and iterative testing environments.
- Outstanding communication skills in English, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly to team members, stakeholders, and customers.
- Experience using Jenkins, Bitbucket, GIT, REST API
- Previous debugging experience, Good networking knowledge
- Certifications in Quality Assurance, such as ISTQB Foundation Level, CSTE, or equivalent.
