Job Summary
QA Automation Engineer responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated test frameworks (Playwright) to ensure quality and reliability of information systems. Conduct functional and regression testing, validate UI consistency, test SQL-based backend operations, and set up/testing environments with Docker Compose. Collaborate with development teams to review code, refine test scenarios, and optimize testing. Perform API testing (REST/GraphQL) for reliability and performance, create and maintain test documentation and defect reports, and conduct exploratory testing to uncover issues. Required: 2+ years of TypeScript/JavaScript, strong SQL knowledge, Playwright experience, Git version control, and intermediate English; familiarity with Docker Compose, basic CI/CD concepts (e.g., Jenkins), REST/GraphQL API testing basics, Prisma or similar ORM tooling, and a focus on detail and collaboration. Desirable: UI/UX awareness, TypeScript frontend reading, Selenium, test documentation expertise, and accounting for security considerations in testing. Location: Nairobi or Mombasa, Kenya. Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience with TypeScript/JavaScript
- Excellent knowledge of SQL
- Experience with Playwright
- Strong understanding of OOP principles
- Experience with Git version control
- English – intermediate
- Familiarity with Docker Compose for setting up and troubleshooting environments
- Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins)
- REST/GraphQL API testing basics
- SQL and ORM tools, such as Prisma
- Experience in testing APIs (REST/GraphQL) for reliability and performance
- Ability to read front-end parts in TypeScript (advantage)
- Familiarity with Selenium or similar tools (advantage)
- Experience in creating test documentation
- Strong attention to detail
- Initiative in identifying untested scenarios or edge cases
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new tools and technologies
- Code review and refactoring skills with a focus on optimization
- Understanding of application security, including token validation
- Experience in testing financial applications
