Job Summary
Lead Software Engineer within JPMorgan Chase's Equities Intraday Risk team responsible for designing and delivering technical products that enable front-office risk management. Own the full software delivery lifecycle from requirements gathering to handover, writing secure production code, and collaborating with line-of-business users to translate business needs into measurable work items. Leverage Python (with strong emphasis on high-quality, scalable code), broader languages as needed (e.g., Java, C++), and cloud-native practices to build robust APIs and systems on the Athena platform. Drive architectural designs, automation, CI/CD, security, and operational stability while contributing to a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect. Maintain strong stakeholder relationships across internal clients and external vendors, and participate in communities of practice to promote adoption of leading-edge technologies.
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Professional python experience with proven track record of high quality successful delivery
- Proven wide ranging technical experience demonstrating a genuine interest in technical products and problem solving
- Knowledge of the products traded in capital markets, business processes and applications underpinning them
- Distributed Risk calculations leveraging on-prem and/or off-prem infrastructure (preferred)
- In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
- Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods
- Proven ability to design, implement, test, and operate software in a production environment
- Experience with cloud-native environments and modern software development practices
- Excellent communication skills and ability to integrate into a cross-region team
- Overall solid background in software engineering, risk analytics, and related tooling
