Job Summary
Senior Associate Python Engineer on 55ip’s Quantitative R&D team, building a large-scale cloud-based web application for quantitative research capabilities including back testing, simulations, machine learning, and analytics. Collaborate with quant researchers and developers to understand requirements, design and implement scalable solutions, maintain architectural and workflow diagrams, participate in agile development, perform code reviews, and support testing and post go-live activities. Proficiency in Python and the stack (Pandas, Polars, Django, React) plus AWS cloud services (EC2, EKS, RDS, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch) is required, along with strong software development lifecycle knowledge, CI/CD practices, and a drive for high code quality. Advantageous: Terraform, AWS certifications, exposure to financial markets data, Jira, and Linux.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer, Electronic or IT Engineering or equivalent
- 6 years of experience in relevant software development
- Proficiency in Python, Pandas, Polars, GitHub/Bit-Bucket, Jenkins, Jira, and PostgreSQL
- Strong experience with AWS cloud services (EC2, EKS, RDS, ElastiCache, S3, Lambda, Secrets Manager, CloudWatch)
- Experience with Django, Redis, and React
- OOP and software design in Python
- Experience with CI/CD, application resiliency, security
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work with researchers, developers, and analysts
- Strong attention to detail and quality
