Job Summary
Perform maintenance on streets, curbs, sidewalks, and public right-of-way including pavement repairs, mowing, and trash collection. Install and maintain street signage, lights, traffic signals, water mains, valves, fire hydrants, and sanitary sewers. Operate heavy equipment such as backhoes, loaders, excavators, and boom mowers under direct supervision. Assist in snow and ice removal and restore property disturbed by construction. Respond to on-call rotations every third week with a 30-minute response time, including support for snow/ice operations. Maintain positive relationships with co-workers, city employees, and the public while adhering to safety rules and punctuality.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Missouri for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid CDL Class B driver's license with air brake and tank vehicle endorsements within 6 months of hire.
