Job Summary
Manage day-to-day purchasing of raw materials, components, equipment, and supplies for manufacturing operations, issuing purchase orders and coordinating inventory-related orders from suppliers in China and Taiwan. Review material requirements for accuracy, monitor open orders and delivery schedules, and follow up directly with suppliers to ensure timely arrival and resolve discrepancies. Supervise purchasing team members by assigning priorities, reviewing work for accuracy, and providing performance feedback and training. Analyze purchasing trends and inventory data using Excel to identify cost savings and potential shortages, while implementing improved processes and maintaining accurate documentation.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience
- Associate's degree with relevant purchasing/procurement experience
- Equivalent combination of education and experience to the Associate's degree requirement
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience supervising, training, or leading purchasing employees
- Experience purchasing raw materials, components, or production-related supplies
- Experience working with international suppliers, particularly suppliers in China and/or Taiwan
- Mandarin Chinese proficiency
- Experience creating and managing purchase orders and following orders through delivery
- Strong supplier communication and relationship-management skills
- Experience resolving supplier issues involving pricing, shortages, delays, claims, returns, or quality concerns
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and ability to analyze purchasing and inventory information
- Experience with ERP/MRP or purchasing systems
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field
