Purchasing Specialist

Job Summary
Create, issue, and manage purchase orders for raw materials and product samples using multiple business systems. Communicate with suppliers to confirm pricing, lead times, product availability, and order status, while monitoring orders to ensure timely deliveries and address potential delays. Resolve pricing discrepancies, receiving issues, quality concerns, freight claims, and supplier performance issues. Maintain accurate landed costs, establish safety stock levels, and optimize inventory to improve on-time delivery performance. Collaborate closely with Research & Development, Planning, Production, Sales, Receiving, and Quality teams to understand material requirements and support production schedules. Obtain freight quotations and coordinate transportation costs for imported raw materials. Maintain the product sampling database and ensure all information is accurate and up to date.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related discipline.
- 1-3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain, preferably within a food manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills with the ability to interpret purchasing, inventory, and cost data.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
- Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve purchasing challenges effectively.
- Experience using purchasing, inventory management, or ERP systems.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Commitment to ethical purchasing practices and maintaining data integrity.
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience working with Oracle or another ERP system
