Purchasing Specialist

Job Summary

Conduct transactional purchasing processes to fulfill commodity requirements while maintaining accountability for purchased, consigned, and used inventory. Manage procurement cost and delivery timing for forecasted needs, collaborating with warehouse, sales, and dispatch stakeholders to oversee the inventory chain of custody. Mitigate risk and promote compliance by establishing valued relationships with internal and external partners, while directly working with the supply base to resolve supplier performance issues. Escalate sourcing and procurement matters to leadership as needed and actively support the implementation of standardized business system solutions across the supply chain.

Required Qualifications

  • at least three (3) years of relevant experience
  • high school education
  • Capable of effectively managing complex projects with little to no guidance
  • Completely understands the role of each function in the Supply Chain and how their Key Performance Indicators support the needs of end customers
  • Has been a leader in a number of Supply Chain functions and led cross-functional teams to drive improvements in the Supply Chain
  • Demonstrated ability to improve and expand the application of fostering open communication at Smart Care
  • Establishes creative ways to obtain input from others
  • Shows outstanding active listening skills that draw out difficult or contentious information
  • Chooses the appropriate communication vehicle for the situation
  • Demonstrated results indicating deep knowledge of managing execution
  • Coordinates performance across regions, teams, and departments on complex projects and workflows
  • Measures the effectiveness of execution through defined metrics and disciplined monitoring
  • Manages the project schedule using the recommended project management tools and processes to drive completion within the agreed timeline
  • Manages a list of project deliverables (scope) using the recommended project management tools and processes to ensure that the project includes all the work required and only the work required to complete the project successfully
  • Manages the process to identify, assess and prioritize issues and risks using recommended tools and processes to minimize, monitor, and control the probability and/or impact of negative events or to maximize the realization of positive events
  • Applying knowledge of business and the marketplace to advance the organization's goals
  • Building strong customer relationships and delivering customer-centric solutions
  • Interpreting and applying understanding of key financial indicators to make better business decisions
  • Planning and prioritizing work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals
  • Handling conflict situations effectively, with a minimum of noise
  • Developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences
  • Travel will be almost exclusively North America-based
  • Requested work location is on-site at a Smart Care Equipment Solutions location
  • 100% remote will not be allowed
  • some version of minimal (4+1) hybrid will be considered
  • Supply Chain Certifications – the successful applicant should possess, be working towards, and/or possess the skills and capabilities equivalent to obtaining nationally recognized certification from the Institute for Supply Management (www.ismworld.com)
