Job Summary
Oversee the purchasing department and supply room by planning procurement strategies for supplies, equipment, machinery, and services while confirming product specifications to secure competitive pricing. Solicit bids, negotiate volume agreements, and manage receiving clerks to ensure timely logging of materials in the Guardian Purchase Order software. Maintain an orderly warehouse, supervise inventory levels, and build supplier relationships grounded in quality and ethics. Review materials usage patterns and budgets to identify cost-saving opportunities, apply proper tax codes, and maintain insurance certificates for all contractors. Investigate quality issues and vendor problems, resolving them with plant staff and suppliers. Work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and after hours as necessary.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent with extensive training or experience in computer-based accounting or administration
- 5-6 years of experience in administration, purchasing, accounting and related areas in a manufacturing environment
- at least 3 years specifically in plant equipment and materials purchasing
- Strong purchasing knowledge
- negotiating skills

- Strong communication, planning and organizational skills
- Vendor knowledge and ability to build long-lasting relationships
- Must be willing to work flexible work schedules to be available nights, weekends, and after hours if necessary
- Demonstrate teamwork and ability to mentor subordinate staff
