Purchasing Coordinator

Job Summary

Create, issue, and maintain purchase orders in the ERP system while monitoring open orders and following up with suppliers on status, lead times, and delivery dates. Review purchasing requirements to ensure materials are ordered timely and communicate changes in delivery schedules or availability to internal departments. Coordinate with Production, Operations, Inventory, Quality, and Receiving to meet material requirements, assist with inventory monitoring and expediting, and resolve invoice or purchase order discrepancies. Obtain pricing and quotations from approved suppliers, research alternative materials, and support continuous improvement initiatives related to purchasing and supplier performance. Serve as a secondary point of contact for customer service inquiries, liaising with customers to address requests and coordinate communications as delegated.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associate degree or additional education in business, supply chain, purchasing, or a related field
  • 2+ years of purchasing, procurement, inventory, manufacturing, or supply chain experience
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and internal departments
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving and follow-through skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to work in an office and manufacturing environment
  • Ability to occasionally walk through the manufacturing facility and interact with production and warehouse personnel
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and perform computer-based work for extended periods
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move materials or documents as required

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate degree or additional education in business, supply chain, purchasing, or a related field preferred
  • 2+ years of purchasing, procurement, inventory, manufacturing, or supply chain experience preferred
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems preferred
