Job Summary
Purchasing Coordinator duties include coordinating local purchasing of frozen and dry foods and non-food items, developing vendor relationships, negotiating prices, and managing transportation logistics and product development. Responsibilities also cover coordinating with Yamasho Inc. and New York purchasing for transportation and delivery, maintaining records in the S2K system, processing receipts and invoices, calculating costs and pricing to determine profit margins, ensuring FDA and USDA compliance through HACCP and CAPA programs, communicating with trucking companies, coordinating with warehouse for receiving and inventory, reviewing inventory discrepancies, creating purchase orders from sales volume, creating promotional flyers and product catalogs, and supporting office and sales activities. Requires strong organizational, numerical, and communication skills, proficiency with ERP/S2K or MS Dynamics and Excel, and business-level English (Japanese preferred). Must be able to work in an office setting, with occasional weekend events and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds; high school diploma required, bachelor’s degree in business preferred, and 2+ years of relevant experience in the food industry preferred.
