Job Summary
Monitor and analyze product inventory to ensure adequate stock levels, create purchase orders based on sales volume, and coordinate transportation and delivery with Los Angeles and New York branches. Manage vendor relationships for supply, quality assurance, price negotiations, and product development while calculating costs to set pricing and determine profit margins. Process receipts and invoices for payment, maintain stock numbers, and work with the warehouse department to track expiration dates and receiving of goods. Prepare for bi-weekly purchasing meetings regarding product and inventory changes, attend company events outside normal hours, and conduct semiannual inventory counts. Requires business-level English and Japanese skills, 2+ years of experience, and ability to work independently.
Required Qualifications
- Business level English required - Read/write/speak/listen
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 2+ years of relevant experience
- Ability to sit and work in an office setting for an extended period of time
- Ability to type and use a computer for extended periods of time
- Ability to talk, hear, walk, stand, smell, taste, reach, bend, kneel, and lift and/or move up to 20 pounds occasionally
- Intermediate mathematical knowledge, such as profit margin calculations, markups, discounts, combining/converting measurements, counting inventory, etc
- Basic Microsoft Office proficiency
- Ability to work independently and as a team
- Ability to adapt to frequent changes in assignments and workload
- Ability to sit and work in an office setting for an extended period of time
- Ability to type and use a computer for extended periods of time
- Ability to talk, hear, walk, stand, smell, taste, reach, bend, kneel, and lift and/or move up to 20 pounds occasionally
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in business preferred
- Business level Japanese preferred - Read/write/speak/listen
- preferably in food Industry experience
- Knowledge of ERP systems, AS400 or Microsoft Business Central highly preferred
- Knowledge of Japanese foods and sakes preferred
