Purchasing Analyst
On-site · Chico, California, United States
Job Summary
The Purchasing Analyst translates vendor performance, replenishment-system signals, demand velocity, and inventory health into audits, action lists, and SOPs that drive purchasing decisions across business units and channels. The role supports pre-season, in-season, and post-season planning cadences, builds pre-sorted action lists rather than raw data dumps, and collaborates with Buyers and Category/Brand Managers to optimize lead times, stock levels, and spend. Responsibilities include tracking supplier lead-time performance, conducting safety-stock and backorder analyses, maintaining supplier scorecards, preparing data packs for reviews, and providing data-backed insights to guide negotiations and inventory decisions. Proficiency in Excel (and SQL/Power BI preferred) and strong communication skills are essential for turning data into actionable recommendations for cross-functional partners.
Required Qualifications
- 2-5 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain analytics, inventory planning, replenishment, or a comparable analytical role.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivots, lookups, conditional logic, structured workbooks) with fluency in building clean, maintainable models.
- Demonstrated ability to translate raw data into clear, decision-ready action lists for non-analyst audiences.
- Comfort working across multiple business units, channels, or categories with different vendor bases and inventory profiles.
