Job Summary
Purchasing Agent in Houston, TX responsible for sourcing materials, parts, tools, and supplies to support manufacturing and shop operations; maintain vendor relationships and negotiate pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules; create and process purchase orders; monitor inventory and coordinate replenishment; track orders to ensure timely delivery; collaborate with production, warehouse, and management teams; research new vendors and sourcing opportunities to improve cost and quality; resolve issues related to damaged, incorrect, or delayed shipments; maintain purchasing records and vendor documentation; assist with cost-saving initiatives and inventory control.
Required Qualifications
- Previous purchasing, procurement, or inventory experience preferred
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or machine shop environments is a plus
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and ERP/inventory systems
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable attendance and professional work ethic
- Physical Requirements: sit, stand, walk; lift up to 25 pounds; office and shop environments as needed
