Job Summary
Pupil Support Assistant (2) to work under the direction and supervision of a class teacher or senior staff to support children and young people with additional support needs. Responsibilities include supporting pupils individually or in class/in small groups, contributing information to planning and review for individual pupils, supervising medication administration with high levels of personal care, delivering support programmes designed by visiting specialists (e.g., speech and language, physiotherapy, occupational therapy), and assisting with pupil mobility and independence. Opportunity to work as part of a team to improve learner outcomes and wellbeing, with a focus on building positive relationships and collaborative practice within the school community.
Required Qualifications
- PVG scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland
- register with SSSC within 6 months of taking up employment (Early Learning Centres/Primary and Special schools only)
- complete Post Registration Training and Learning (PRTL) over registration period
- National 5’s, or 2 Standard Grades General, or 2 O Grades or equivalent (SCQF Level 4 or above)
- NC in Early Education and Childcare at SCQF Level 6 or SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 6 or Professional Development Award in Education Support Assistance at SCQF Level 6 or equivalent
- good IT skills
