Pupil Support Assistant Level 2

Pupil Support Assistant (2) at Canongate Primary School. The role involves supporting pupils individually, in class, or in small groups in identified areas of learning and personal development, contributing information to update planning and review processes for individual pupils, supervising self-administration of medication and providing high-level personal care, carrying out support programmes designed by visiting specialists (e.g., speech and language, physiotherapy, occupational therapy), and assisting with pupil mobility as needed. The post requires collaboration within a team, demonstration of care and commitment to learners’ wellbeing, and adherence to PVG requirements and local staff development. The role supports improving life chances for children and young people and aligns with the Education Directorate’s values and practices. The working pattern is part-time (17.5 hours/week) across Monday–Wednesday for 39 weeks per year, with additional CPD-related hours, under supervision of a class teacher or senior staff. The appointment is temporary until 14 August 2027, with associated eligibility for professional development and registration as required.
