Job Summary
Pupil Support Assistant (2) to work under a Class Teacher or senior staff to assist children and young people identified as requiring additional support. You will support pupils individually, in class, or in small groups; contribute information to update planning and review processes for individual learners; supervise self-administration of medication and provide high levels of personal care; carry out support programmes designed by visiting specialists (speech and language, physiotherapy, occupational therapy); assist with pupil mobility and short-term needs. The role requires collaboration with others to meet learners’ needs, effective interpersonal skills, and commitment to safeguarding, with PVG and SSSC registration to be obtained within stated timeframes. Required Qualifications
- 2 National 5s, or 2 Standard Grades General, or 2 O Grades or equivalent (SCQF Level 4 or above)
- For Early Learning Centres/Primary and Special Schools only - NC in Early Education and Childcare at SCQF Level 6 or SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 6 or Professional Development Award in Education Support Assistance at SCQF Level 6 or equivalent or, a commitment to achieve in the first period of registration as required by the employer.
- Good IT skills.
- PVG scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland before confirming appointment; registration with SSSC within 6 months; complete required Post Registration Training and Learning (PRTL).
- Must start registration within 3 months and complete qualification within specified timeframe.
