Job Summary
Pupil Support Assistant (2) to work under supervision of a class teacher or senior staff, supporting children and young people identified as requiring additional support. Responsibilities include supporting pupils individually or in class/in small groups, contributing information to update planning and review for individual pupils, supervising self-administration of medication with high levels of personal care, carrying out support programmes designed by visiting specialists (speech and language, physiotherapy, occupational therapy), supporting pupil mobility for short-term needs, and assisting with wellbeing and inclusive learning. Candidates should have good interpersonal skills, be able to work as part of a team, have experience supporting learners with additional needs, and be prepared to register with SSSC and complete required training (PRTL). PVG scheme membership is required before appointment. Role is a part-time contract (Temporary) at Kennoway Primary School, Fife, offering 28.5 hours per week across 39 weeks per year, with Pro Rata salary in GBP. A Supporting Statement outlining relevant experience and fit for roles is required as part of the application.
Required Qualifications
- 2 National 5’s, or SCQF Level 4 or above
- 2 Standard Grades General, or 2 O Grades, or equivalent
- Good IT skills
- PVG scheme membership via Disclosure Scotland
- Registration with SSSC within 6 months of employment
- Post Registration Training and Learning (PRTL) over the registration period
- Ability to work in a team and with learners with additional support needs
- Experience in supporting young people with additional support needs
- Role requires safeguarding responsibilities
