Job Summary
Repair, recondition, and service Caterpillar and allied machines, systems, and components in the field while preparing equipment for delivery. Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions in engine systems and components, maintain company equipment in clean, orderly condition, and plan and control the cost of repair jobs. Prepare service reports, own and maintain required personal tools, and make warranty recommendations. Communicate orally and in writing with associates, clients, and management regarding equipment conditions, problems, and repair processes. Work safely in adverse weather conditions, including extreme cold, heat, and wet environments, and travel to remote locations as needed. Perform on-the-job training to technicians and helpers as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- At least six months of related experience in a similar role and environment
- Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend English
- Keep safety as a priority in the work environment
- Ability to successfully complete a skills assessment (eTRAIN test)
- Valid driver's license
- Excellent client service skills
- Own and maintain required personal tools
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Current driver's license
- Required DOT licensing, medical card, and endorsements as vehicle size dictates
- Minimum of 6 months related experience
- Completion of TRAIN test evaluation
- Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English
- Must have acceptable attendance to meet all company standards and requirements
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, and peripheral vision
- May be required to operate a forklift with appropriate certification(s)
- Appropriate manner, conduct, and grooming adhere to company policy
- Ability to obtain and maintain CDL if required by state or federal law
- Knowledge of CAT machine components and systems
