Job Summary
Perform hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, assessment, and repair on centrifugal, reciprocating, vertical in-line, and direct acting steam pumps. Dismantle rotating equipment using hand tools and overhead cranes, interpreting schematics and process sheets to work to tolerances of .0005. Measure components with gauges and calipers, then conduct quality assurance inspections and manual statistical testing to ensure rebuilt machines meet specifications. Interface with customer and union personnel to define work scope, complete detailed inspection reports, and maintain a safe environment following standard operating procedures. Requires 8+ years of pump repair experience, high school diploma, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma
- 2 years of technical training
- 8+ years of experience repairing pumps, rotating equipment or very similar equipment
- Experience repairing at least 3 of the following pump types: API overhung (OH1-OH4), between bearing (BB1-BB5), multistage, ANSI, vertical turbines, positive displacement or piston
- Ability to work independently performing basic pump service / maintenance activities
- Ability to use hand tools (wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, impact tools, hammers, mallets, etc.) effectively
- Basic math skills, including percentages and the ability to count accurately
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Basic computer skills
- Good interpersonal skills for daily interaction with customers and fellow employees
- Good communication and writing skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Ability to work with minimal supervision while following routine procedures
- Safety and Quality oriented, with attention to detail
- Willingness to work overtime, call-ins, etc. as needed to meet customer requirements
Desired Qualifications
- 2 years of technical training
- Experience with other types of OEM Brands
- Experience repairing at least 3 of the following pump types: API overhung (OH1-OH4), between bearing (BB1-BB5), multistage, ANSI, vertical turbines, positive displacement or piston
