Job Summary
Perform complete disassembly and reassembly of centrifugal pumps, including multistage and high-energy units. Conduct detailed dimensional inspections of critical components using precision measuring instruments and evaluate component condition to determine repair versus replace decisions. Troubleshoot mechanical issues independently, develop detailed work scopes, and measure critical running clearances in accordance with OEM standards. Execute precision assembly techniques, verify running clearances prior to final assembly, and perform final inspections of machined and assembled equipment. Safely lead air and hydrostatic testing, interpret results, and report defects to internal and external customers. Mentor lower-level mechanics on disassembly, inspection, and troubleshooting practices. This role supports the aftermarket repair and upgrade business in the Houston PRO Services shop, focusing on reducing equipment total cost of ownership.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- 10+ experience troubleshooting and repairing rotating equipment
- Extensive experience with rotating equipment, pump mechanics, and hydraulics
- Experience repairing rotating equipment and repairing techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with diverse client group
- Ability to troubleshoot in-depth issues with rotating equipment
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret pump drawings
- Ability to anticipate and solve practical problems and resolve issues
- Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and within a team
- Ability to effectively communicate ideas and properly describe problems and solutions
- Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks, time management, and prioritization skills
- Well-developed planning, organization, analytical, and decision-making skills
- Ability to produce clear, timely, and concise documentation and have well-developed problem-solving skills
- Ability to apply good judgment, strong work ethic, and integrity on the job
- Proficient in relevant PC skills
