Job Summary
Measure, analyze, and record pulmonary function procedures and perform non-invasive cardiac diagnostic testing for patients on care units, in the department, and in the outpatient clinic. Working under physician and laboratory coordinator direction, you will serve as a go-to resource for routine pulmonary function testing and cardiac monitoring, implement quality assurance programs, train new employees, and troubleshoot equipment issues while ensuring adherence to Joint Commission standards. You will participate in educational and clinical programs, contribute to quality improvement initiatives, and attend continuing education seminars. This training occurs at Sibley Memorial for 6+/- months before the permanent location in Falls Church, VA.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED with certificate in respiratory therapy
- Associate's degree in respiratory therapy
- Bachelor's degree in health science or biology
- One year (12 months) experience in a pulmonary function lab
- CPR (BLS) certification
- Credentialing through the N.B.R.C. as a respiratory care practitioner or pulmonary function technologist
- Ability to maintain certification throughout employment
- Ability to become credentialed within 2 years of employment if not credentialed
