Job Summary

Provide direct clinical services for critically ill adult patients by obtaining health histories, performing physical examinations, and interpreting diagnostic and laboratory tests. Order life-supporting drugs, manage airways including intubation and extraglottic devices, and perform procedures such as chest tube insertions and thoracenteses under physician direction. Formulate treatment plans for acute illness, assess patient status changes, and institute emergency interventions to stabilize patients. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team on daily rounds, new consults, admissions, discharges, and advanced care planning. Participate in quality improvement, clinical research, and education for nursing staff and the community. Serve in the on-call pool for call-outs while maintaining state licensure and CME hours.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with a current Georgia license for Advanced Practice Nursing and a Master's degree in Acute Care Nursing
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with a current license for the Georgia State Composite Board
  • 2 years of ICU experience
  • Licensed Physician Assistant in the State of Georgia
  • Licensed for Advanced Practice Nursing (ACNP)
  • Credentialed in all procedures, including intubations
  • ACLS certification
  • Ability to formulate a differential diagnosis, assessment, and plan for each patient
  • Maintain CME hours and state license/national recertification
