Job Summary

Conduct direct clinical services for critically ill adult patients within ICU, CCU, and CVICU settings by obtaining health histories, performing physical examinations, and interpreting diagnostic and laboratory tests. Perform approved therapeutic and diagnostic procedures including arterial and venous blood sampling, cardiac output measurements, EKGs, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Insert and manage arterial catheters, dialysis catheters, central venous catheters, pulmonary artery catheters, chest tubes, and endotracheal tubes under physician direction. Formulate and implement treatment plans for acute illness management, assess patient status changes, and institute emergency interventions to stabilize patients. Administer life-supporting drugs according to protocols and defibrillate per Advanced Cardiac Life Support standards. Educate nursing staff, interdisciplinary teams, and families on clinical procedures and educational programs. Support IRB-approved clinical research trials by obtaining consent, ordering tests, and documenting outcomes.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally with team members and patients.
  • Ability to understand legal issues that influence the practice of the APPs.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Graduated from an accredited school of nursing with a current Georgia license for Advanced Practice Nursing and a Master's degree in Nursing, OR graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with a current license for the Georgia State Composite Board.
  • Licensed Physician Assistant in the State of Georgia. OR Licensed for Advanced Practice Nursing (ACNP).
