Job Summary
Support the Publisher of Hachette Nashville in editorial management, including drafting P&L statements, setting up title management, and maintaining metadata. Draft, edit, and maintain cover briefs, fact sheets, and catalog copy while evaluating manuscripts for publication through the Apiary and FaithWords imprints. Produce reports on publishing schedules, sales data, and competition grids, and guide projects through the post-subedit phase by collaborating with Editorial, Production, and Marketing. Organize materials for internal publishing meetings and seasonal planning sessions, manage administrative needs like scheduling and travel, and draft correspondence for stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated interest in non-fiction books, especially Christian and inspirational
- Minimum of 1-2 years of publishing experience
- Excellent writing and editorial skills
- Ability to manage large amounts of information and work efficiently within Hachette's systems of record
- Ability to interact effectively and pro-actively with a diverse constituency, including department staff, senior management, support staff, authors, agents, and media
- Ability to adapt to changing needs in a fast-paced environment and evolving industry
- Strong computer (Mac or PC) skills, including MS Word, Excel, Adobe, Basecamp, Canva, databases
- Must demonstrate ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively while also ensuring attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills (verbal & written) and interpersonal skills
- Confident problem solver who takes initiative to improve processes and to contribute positively to the culture and growth of Hachette Nashville
- Previous administrative experience supporting a senior executive preferred
