Job Summary
Assist in all aspects of outside maintenance operations including roads, drainage, landscape, cemetery maintenance, snow removal, fleet, and grounds work. Operate equipment and power tools such as tamper, power rake, aerator, top dresser, lawn mower, weed-eater, pressure washer, and saws. Perform manual labour duties for digging, raking, weeding, pruning, mowing, trimming, clean-up, brush clearing, and litter pick-up. Follow HSE protocols, identify hazards, and report incidents while maintaining confidentiality. Submit timesheets and complete pre-trip inspections. Work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-outs in any weather.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-3 years experience working in a civil or industrial construction and/or maintenance environment
- 1-3 years experience working with hand tools, power tools and/or heavy equipment
- Criminal record check with results acceptable to WFN
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and an annual driver's abstract in excellent standing which is to be submitted annually
- Successful completion of WFN's workplace physical assessment
- Knowledge of computer basics (Word and Excel) as well as other electronic devices
- Ability to work outside in any type of weather
- Willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality and uses discretion on all matters relating to the affairs of the Westbank First Nation
- Ability to function well in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment with multiple priorities with good accuracy and attention to detail
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with Indigenous communities is considered an asset
- Knowledge of safe work procedures and understanding of safety culture is considered an asset
- Occupational First Aid Level I
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certificate
- Air Brakes Endorsement
- Traffic Control Certificate
- Skidsteer Ticket
- Chainsaw Certification
- Snow Plow Operator Certification
- S100 Basic Fire Suppression and Safety Course
