Public Transport Service Planner

Job Summary
Identify practical opportunities to improve frequency, coverage, connectivity, and customer outcomes of public transport networks using data and spatial analysis. Develop strategies that encourage public transport use and support integrated transport and land use planning connecting services to growth areas and corridors. Work with government, transport authorities, and community stakeholders to understand needs, test ideas, and shape evidence-based solutions. Prepare clear reports and presentations translating complex planning issues into practical recommendations while monitoring service performance to refine networks over time. Contribute to public consultations and stakeholder workshops, guiding junior team members within a collaborative Brisbane-based Planning and Mobility team at WSP.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in public transport planning
- Experience working with government clients, transport authorities or local government stakeholders
- The ability to turn technical analysis into clear, practical and persuasive advice
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence working collaboratively across disciplines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
- A relevant qualification in transport planning, urban planning, civil engineering, geography, economics or a related discipline
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in major event service planning or an interest in service planning for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games
- Experience with GIS, mapping or transport planning tools
- Experience in bus networks, service planning, integrated transport planning or network strategy
- Experience in interpreting service data, travel patterns, demand, land use context and customer needs
- Experience preparing reports, presentations and stakeholder materials
- Experience in traffic, urban planning, infrastructure and advisory teams
