Job Summary
Performs construction, repair and maintenance duties on municipal projects including streets, sewers, water operations, sidewalks and related areas. Works under supervision but with leeway for independent judgment; may operate and assist with various equipment; handles solid waste sorting and hazardous materials awareness; ensures safety and compliance with City regulations; provides guidance to others and coordinates with citizens and contractors as needed. Duties include laying and repairing water mains and sewer lines, paving and grading, snow removal, traffic re-routing for safety, and performing related yard and facility maintenance. Strong knowledge of street, sewer and water construction, safety procedures, customer service, and ability to work outdoors in variable conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from High School or possession of a GED
- Zero to two years of experience in drop-off facility and/or water, streets and/or sewer construction where physical work is required OR equivalent training/experience
- State of New Hampshire Solid Waste Facility Operator Certificate; must obtain within six months of hire
- Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL-B); must obtain within six months of hire (Water Works only)
