Job Summary
Public Security Officer (Armed) performs periodic patrols of hospital buildings/grounds, screens entrants, de-escalates crises, enforces hospital regulations, conducts safety checks per state/federal requirements, responds to fire/emergency calls, assists police/fire/emergency management teams, and provides parking-lot assistance while collaborating with Deaconess Health Police Department. Must hold HS diploma or GED, a current non-restricted driver’s license, and be eligible for a handgun permit; firearms proficiency requalifications occur semi-annually. Job includes day/evening/night shifts with a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for career advancement.
Required Qualifications
- HS diploma or GED Equivalent
- Working knowledge of computers and software
- Current non-restricted Driver’s License
- Must successfully complete required training after hire
- Eligible to obtain a Permit to carry a handgun (State of Kentucky)
- Successful completion of Firearms Proficiency Test with semi-annual requalification
- Ability to deal with patients and family members in crisis and with abusive individuals
- Perform periodic tours of hospital buildings and grounds
- De-escalation of tense situations
- Screening of individuals entering facility
- Enforcement of hospital regulations and policies
- Safety checks and tests as required by state and federal law
- Parking lot safety and directing visitors
- Attendance at staff meetings and in-services
- Completion of required hospital training
