Job Summary
Evening Public Safety Officer at Swedish Hospital in Chicago provides unarmed, uniformed security services to protect persons and property. Responsibilities include patrolling facilities and grounds (foot or vehicle), investigating unusual occurrences, reporting incidents, assisting police when needed, guiding patients and visitors, directing vehicle traffic, issuing parking citations, securing entrances/equipment, restraining unruly individuals when necessary, documenting incidents for investigations, and delivering courteous service. Requires high school diploma or GED, 1+ year in a customer-service role, CPR within 90 days, valid driver’s license, and FOID card within 90 days; preferred 2+ years in law enforcement/military/private security, CPI certification within six months, and IAHSS Basic Healthcare Security Officer training within twelve months. Location: Swedish Hospital, Chicago, IL; shift: full-time evenings (3pm–11:30pm) including holidays.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of one year experience in a customer-focused service-based organization
- Preferred: minimum of two years of experience in law enforcement, military or private security
- CPR certification within 90 days of start date
- Valid Illinois Firearm Owner’s Identification Card within 90 days of start date
- Current driver’s license
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification within six months of hire
- IAHSS Basic Healthcare Security Officer training within twelve months of hire
