Job Summary
Respond to service calls, including unlocking buildings, providing escorts, and addressing suspicious activity or emergencies. Patrol campus by vehicle, golf cart, or foot to ensure full coverage of buildings and grounds. Identify and report maintenance concerns and hazards to appropriate staff. Provide security at university functions and athletic events as needed. Administer basic first aid, CPR, and AED, coordinating with medical responders when necessary. Assist students in crisis and respond to security and fire alarms. Maintain clear, timely daily logs and incident reports. Promote shared responsibility for campus safety and enforce university policies with tact and diplomacy. Work flexible hours to ensure 24/7 safety coverage.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to handle stressful situations
- Proficiency in English grammar, spelling, and report writing
- Ability to interpret and enforce university regulations
- Good judgment, discretion, and the ability to analyze situations accurately
- Ability to work independently, confidentially, and with minimal supervision
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies relevant to safety systems and campus operations
- Ability to work flexible hours to ensure 24/7 safety coverage
- Ability to sit for desk-based tasks
- Ability to perform fine manipulation
- Ability to use a telephone/radio
- Ability to write by hand
- Ability to sort/file paperwork
- Ability to kneel/crawl
- Ability to twist
- Ability to lift/carry/push/pull objects weighing up to 35 pounds
