Job Summary
Conduct general law enforcement and firefighting work dedicated to protecting life and property, including responding to emergencies, disorder, crime, and fire calls via radio, telephone, or in person. Patrol city areas on foot or in a vehicle to preserve law and order, enforce traffic regulations, and conduct preliminary investigations by gathering evidence and locating witnesses. Make arrests, process prisoners, visit crime scenes, and compose written reports while appearing in court to testify as required. May administer basic first aid, conduct specialized investigations, and develop educational programs for students through School Resource Programs. Perform cross-training in the fire division as needed and attend service training for firearms use.
Required Qualifications
- United States Citizen
- 21 years of age
- Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record
- High school diploma or equivalent
- NO felony or domestic abuse-related convictions
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Computer operation skills
- Mental and physical ability to perform all essential functions of a police officer
Desired Qualifications
- at least two years of college with study emphasis in fire/police science, fire/police administration, or a related field
- two years of experience working with the public
