Job Summary
Public Safety Officer role with the City of Fraser Civil Service Commission. The City is accepting applications for the position beginning 6/9/2026. Qualifications include Michigan residency for one year, U.S. citizenship, no felony convictions, valid Michigan driver's license, good moral character, ability to pass the firefighters agility test if required, MCOLES licensing or academy eligibility (or completion requirements to be admitted to a police academy) with an associate's degree required for licensing, and eligibility to be certified as firefighter I and II (certification preferred). Required Qualifications
- Be a resident of the State of Michigan for a period of one year at the time of application.
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Have no felony convictions
- Have a valid Michigan driver's license
- Possess good moral character
- If required, must be able to pass the firefighters agility test
- Be MCOLES licensed; or attending a current police academy; or have obtained all necessary requirements to be admitted to a police academy. (Upon completion of an academy, applicants must have obtained a minimum of an associate's degree in order to be licensed by MCOLES).
- If not licensed or in a current academy, have passed the MCOLES pre-employment standards tests.
- Be eligible to be certified as a firefighter I and II. Certification is preferred but not mandatory.
- Meet all minimum standards as mandated by the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards, the Michigan Firefighters Training Council, and the Fraser Civil Service Commission.
