Job Summary
Manage a team of public relations professionals and lead strategies to maintain positive public opinion among key audiences. Mentor teammates, develop integrated communication plans leveraging earned, shared, owned, and paid media, and collaborate with internal partners to advance thought leadership. Monitor organizational reputation, identify risks, and serve as a strategic advisor on messaging and stakeholder engagement. Establish relationships with media representatives, manage interview requests, and pitch stories highlighting organizational priorities. Prepare performance reports, source vendors, and participate in strategic planning and budget management. This role supports a mission to empower veterans and their families through direct programs and community integration.
Required Qualifications
- Five years of communications, public relations, or marketing experience
- Three years of staff management experience
- Bachelor's degree in public relations, communication, journalism, or relevant related field
- May require lifting/carrying items up to 25 pounds
- Up to 25% travel
Desired Qualifications
- Seven years of communications or public relations experience
- Five years of staff management experience
- Five years of experience working with a nonprofit organization
- Two years of experience developing multimedia assets
- Two years of experience working with search engine optimization
