Job Summary
Public Relations & Communications Assistant for Canada Summer Jobs in Burlington, Ontario. Supports public relations initiatives, content development, stakeholder engagement, and communications activities; assists in identifying opportunities to showcase impact, prepares newsletters, presentations, and materials, drafts content for various channels, and conducts research on workforce development trends. Works with the Executive Team and Communications department in a hybrid role, attending select meetings and events, and contributing ideas to strengthen visibility and community impact. Asset qualifications include related post-secondary education and prior experience in communications or not-for-profit settings.
Required Qualifications
- Relevant post-secondary education in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Political Science, Public Affairs, English, Business, or a related field is considered an asset
- Equivalent combinations of education, training, experience, and transferable skills will be considered
- Previous experience in communications, public relations, stakeholder engagement, customer service, community outreach, events, administration, marketing, or related areas is considered an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong research, organizational, and analytical abilities
- Demonstrated initiative, creativity, curiosity, and willingness to contribute ideas
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office, Canva, social media platforms, and general workplace technology
- Experience creating written content, newsletters, presentations, communications materials, or social media content is considered an asset
- Passion for community impact, workforce development, education, and stakeholder engagement
- Interest in or experience within the not-for-profit sector is considered an asset
Additional Requirements
- Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or someone to whom Refugee Status has been granted/conferred
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the funded position
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN)
- Available to work the required full-time contract hours for the duration of the placement
