Job Summary
Public Policy Coordinator leads and supports trauma-informed advocacy initiatives focused on mental health intersections within family violence service models. Responsibilities include developing and coordinating training on best-practice service models (including voluntary services and Chapter 51 provisions), delivering technical assistance to advocates and programs, maintaining and updating policy content (e.g., Creating Safer Spaces), coordinating communications and inquiries, shaping system-change efforts through drafted policies and client forms, and tracking legislation during the Texas legislative session. The role requires collaboration with funders, state agencies, and community partners, plus managing grant reporting and program evaluations. The position blends in-state hybrid remote work with periodic in-office Austin duties, and entails travel up to 25% in-state. Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree and bilingual English/Spanish abilities; strong analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Texas residency required
- Hybrid remote job with in-office responsibilities in Austin, TX
- A minimum of two years of advocacy experience on behalf of survivors at a family violence program
- Experience incorporating the perspectives of multiple communities, including underserved populations, in decision-making
- Strong interpersonal skills grounded in diplomacy to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders
- Ability to travel up to 25%
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (preferred; combination of education and related experience considered)
- Knowledge of domestic violence issues and service provision guidance
- Experience with training development and technical assistance for service providers
- Ability to work independently and in a team, with strong time management and organizational skills
- Experience with policy analysis, legislative tracking, and grant reporting
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred
