Job Summary

The Public Health Section Chief is a senior leadership role within the Arkansas Department of Health responsible for directing the operations of a defined public health program section. Lead the development, implementation, and oversight of programs and services aligned with state priorities and statutory responsibilities. Direct planning, implementation, evaluation, staff supervision, and resource management for the section; supervise a multidisciplinary team; develop goals, policies, and procedures; monitor performance with data, and adjust operations for efficiency, effectiveness, and equity. Manage budgets and contracts or grants, represent the section in interagency workgroups and legislative activities, and collaborate with internal and external partners to strengthen service delivery. Contribute to emergency response operations, including serving in an incident command role when necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, health administration, environmental health, nursing, social work, life sciences, or a related field, plus three (3) years of experience in a public health, administrative, or program coordination setting, plus one (1) year of supervisory experience.
