Job Summary
Conduct hands-on experience in public health through data analysis, disease surveillance, outbreak investigation support, public health campaigns, wellness initiatives, and community outreach. Assist with maternal and child health programs, aging services, health equity initiatives, strategic planning, internal process evaluation, policy development, licensure application processing, and program evaluation. Engage in cross-program collaboration, staff meetings, and exposure to various department initiatives to learn about the broader public health system. Gain valuable experience preparing for careers in public health, healthcare administration, or policy within the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited college or university (two-to-four-year institution)
- Recently graduated (within one year) from an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited college or university (two-to-four-year institution)
Desired Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Promotion, Statistics, or a related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with data analysis software
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Adaptable and eager to learn about various aspects of public health
