Job Summary
Review referred uninsured and under-insured patients for Medicaid benefit or financial assistance eligibility, then initiate and coordinate application processes to ensure accurate submissions. Communicate with patients to obtain necessary documentation and follow up on submitted applications to guarantee timely billing or adjustment processing. Update applicable insurance information at the determination point and document all actions in patient accounting systems while maintaining knowledge of state and federal program requirements. Collaborate with county, state, and federal Medicaid caseworkers and revenue cycle departments to support accurate outcomes. This role is located on-site at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky, OH, with a salary range of $18.65 - $20.50 based on experience.
Required Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience in healthcare industry, interacting with patients regarding hospital financial issues
- High School Diploma or GED
- CRCR certification within 9 months of hire
- Must be inquisitive and demonstrate openness to innovation including AI to explore better processes and ways to alleviate friction and improve patient and client experiences
- Must be available for On-Site work at Firelands - Regional Medical Center in Sandusky, OH
Desired Qualifications
- Understanding of Revenue Cycle including admission, billing, payments and denials
- Comprehensive knowledge of patient insurance process for obtaining authorizations and benefits verification
- Knowledge of Health Insurance requirements
- Knowledge of medical terminology or CPT or procedure codes
- Patient Access experience with managed care/insurance and Call Center experience
