Job Summary
Serve as the primary in-venue voice for University Athletics home competitions and special events, delivering clear, accurate, and enthusiastic announcements for basketball, volleyball, and select other sports. Introduce teams, coaches, and guests while recognizing milestones and special moments, and develop game scripts in collaboration with the Athletics Department. Assist with music planning and ensure all names, pronunciations, and event details are communicated accurately while maintaining professionalism and neutrality. Work closely with staff, coaches, and event personnel to create an energetic atmosphere that supports student-athletes and the community. This seasonal, part-time role requires afternoon, evening, and occasional weekend availability throughout the school year.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Availability for afternoon, evening, and occasional weekend competitions throughout the school year
- Reliable transportation and the ability to arrive well in advance of assigned events
- A strong, clear, and engaging speaking voice
- Authentic energy and enthusiasm
- Understanding of sports and the rhythm of a live competition
- Ability to read the room and adjust energy to the moment
- Comfort speaking in front of large crowds
- Being organized, prepared, dependable, and punctual
- Ability to pronounce names accurately
- Comfort working respectfully with students, coaches, officials, families, and visiting schools from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences
- Comfort receiving feedback and collaborating as part of a game-day team
Desired Qualifications
- College coursework or a degree in communications, broadcasting, journalism, sports media, or a related field
- Previous public address, broadcasting, emcee, radio, podcasting, or live-event experience
- Knowledge of basketball and volleyball
