PTC Windchill Software Engineer

Job Summary
Design and develop agentic workflows to automate part creation, Bill of Materials generation, and engineering change processes within the PTC Windchill platform. Build integration layers connecting Windchill with Master Data Management, sourcing, procurement, manufacturing, and downstream order-execution systems using Java, REST, and SOAP protocols. Configure Windchill applications, object types, and workflows while implementing human-in-the-loop controls and audit trails for AI-generated actions. Support release planning, deployment, and L2/L3 production support for customizations and integrations across a portfolio of over 120,000 parts. Partner with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical designs and ensure data quality and governance standards are met.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline
- 5+ years of enterprise software-engineering experience
- 3+ years of hands-on PTC Windchill development experience
- Strong experience with Java and J2EE
- Strong experience with Windchill APIs and services
- Strong experience with Windchill workflows
- Strong experience with Object models and lifecycle configuration
- Strong experience with REST and SOAP integrations
- Strong experience with SQL and enterprise data models
- Experience with Windchill PDMLink, change management, part management, and BOM structures
- Experience integrating PLM with MDM, ERP, sourcing, procurement, or manufacturing systems
- Strong understanding of software design patterns, API design, security, and CI/CD
- Experience working in Agile or Scrum delivery models
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- Experience building AI agents, workflow automation, or generative-AI applications
- Knowledge of agent orchestration, tool calling, retrieval-augmented generation, and human-in-the-loop design
- Experience with Python, AI APIs, vector databases, or model-evaluation frameworks
- Experience with PTC ThingWorx, Navigate, Info*Engine, or Windchill Enterprise Systems Integration
- Knowledge of product master data, sourcing, procurement, and order-execution processes
- Experience supporting complex hardware, infrastructure, semiconductor, or manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, event streaming, middleware, and containerized services
- PTC Windchill or relevant cloud and AI certifications
