Job Summary
Assist the Staff Physical Therapist with resident care and direct resident care duties. Treat residents as directed by the Physical Therapist; complete timely, accurate documentation in line with facility, governmental, and third-party payer requirements; maintain a safe treatment environment per infection control and safety protocols; participate in Resident Care conferences and Rehabilitation meetings; comply with California Laws and Regulations for PTAs (Manual Article 4 § 1398.44); assist with training of Restorative Aides; communicate with the supervising PT to update physicians, nursing staff, the interdisciplinary team, residents, and families; provide in-services on training programs; educate residents, families, and caregivers on treatment goals, home exercise programs, maintenance programs, safety techniques, and fall prevention; facilitate ordering of necessary durable medical equipment (e.g., splints, walkers, canes, elevated toilet seats, grab bars) to promote mobility; maintain confidentiality of resident and company information; report equipment issues; contribute to quality assurance and program development; relate well with residents, families, staff, and professionals; ensure ongoing continuing education and licensure as required. The position requires an Associate Degree from an accredited PTA program, licensure as a PTA, CPR (if required), and proficiency with relevant healthcare software tools.
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree from an accredited PTA program
- Licensed as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state
- CPR certification, if required by licensure
- Proficient in computer skills such as inputting data into Net Health and Point Click Care
