Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive physical therapy evaluations, interpret findings, and develop individualized treatment plans for patients with traumatic brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, limb loss, or multiple trauma. Implement direct physical therapy treatments and monitor patient progress to adjust goals and programs as needed. Provide basic physical therapy skills, instruct patients and caregivers, and manage rehabilitation technicians under supervision. Document care accurately in medical records and communicate effectively with physicians, insurance companies, and colleagues. Perform duties including lifting up to 100 pounds, prolonged standing, and frequent walking, with two 10-hour days on Saturday and Sunday followed by weekday orientation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors or graduate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited university-based Physical Therapy program
- Current or temporary license to practice Physical Therapy by Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners or by the Physical Therapy Compact Commission
- Current certification in Basic Life Support
- Doctoral degree along with a residency or fellowship program
- Licensed therapist with 30 hours of continuing competence activities in differential diagnosis
- Current license to practice Physical Therapy by Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners or by the Physical Therapy Compact Commission
- Occasional/frequent pushing and lifting 75 – 100 pounds and carrying of up to 30 pounds
- Prolonged standing
- Frequent walking, stooping and squatting
- Fine hand dexterity
- Eye-hand coordination
- The ability to receive oral and written communication
- To communicate verbally and in writing
- The visual ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment
- Recognize alphanumeric characters
- Distinguish colors
- Observe physical characteristics
